Consolation and compassion

The news of deaths awakes me to recall
Those dead whom I forgot a long ego.
Some I heard suffered a lot for long time.
Some I heard were neglected to decay.
In many, deaths became known very late.
In many, funerals were not attended.

Guilt purrs me that I must have seen them alive
And that I must have rendered assistance.
Consolation shown to the inmates
Is not compassion shown to the diseased.
Fear engulfs me as to what is in store
For me, now on the verge, concerning the end.
